Over the past two weeks, we’ve received a number of questions from our writer community about what is or is not allowed during the WGA strike. Here are two that have come up a lot:

1) Can writers (WGA or non-WGA) still work on their own spec scripts right now? YES. When not on the picket line, most writers are using this downtime to develop their own material. This does not conflict with the strike rules in any way.

2) Can writers still submit screenplays for analysis via Slated and continue developing and strengthening their work? YES. Coverage services are not restricted by this labor action.

This WGA strike is vitally important, not just for the long-term viability of screenwriting as a career, but for the future of the film industry.

Slated would not exist without brilliant writers and the bold, boundary-pushing screenplays they create.

They deserve to be paid fairly for their work.

If you have any questions, we’re here to help. For more information about restrictions, see WGA’s strike rules.
